“Be careful about making too much money too fast. You might not know how to handle it” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • If you want to make money with anything in your life, you need to become a master of systems
  • When everything is unpredictable in your life, you’ll have no brain power left to innovate
  • To make money with social media, start by selling other people’s products
  • Do collaborations with other influencers to get started building your social media
  • Vlogging is the future on all social media platforms. Tell your story
  • Smart work always beats hard work. But do both
  • Part of execution is strategy
  • When something is good enough, launch it. Then, innovate and improve as you go
  • If you don’t launch with errors, you waited too long
  • Spend 70% of your time on stuff that works now, 20% on things that you’re pretty sure will work but you’ve never done, and 10% on hair-brained, crazy ideas
  • Never be the first, or last, to an idea
  • Be careful about making too much money too fast. You might not know how to handle it

It probably does not make sense for marijuana to be criminalized to the extent it is, as compared with alcohol

(click to tweet)

We’re taking on a controversial topic today: marijuana, LSD, and psychedelics. We’re digging into the good, the bad, and the ugly of all of it.

Something that is important to keep in mind about marijuana is that, because it has been illegal for so long, we do not have good quality controls in place, nor even especially good ways for measuring the THC levels, etc. So while many argue that it is less harmful than alcohol, these other aspects on the whole contribute to the danger of the substance overall.

Alcohol has been carefully studied and graded, so that we know how much we can have. Not so with marijuana, making it dangerous

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • We do not yet have good ways of measuring the amount of THC, grading, etc, to know if we can drive or not
  • Alcohol has been carefully studied and graded, so that we know how much we can have. Not so with marijuana, making it dangerous
  • Marijuana also does not have good quality controls in place
  • It probably does not make sense for marijuana to be criminalized to the extent it is, as compared with alcohol
  • The brain is still sort of the “wild west” when it comes to medicine, so in a lot of ways we don’t really understand a lot of potential side effects, so it is important to be incredibly careful and cautious

The entire world of medicine, especially in anti-aging, is about to change

(click to tweet)

The entire world of medicine, health, and how to live longer, is about to change, and today I’m talking about Dr. David Agus about that coming change.

We dig into why any diet that stresses your body is bad for you in the long run, how to eat in a way that will reduce and minimize stress, why humans weren’t meant to graze, and that’s why separate and distinct meals are better than constant snacking, and much more.

The future of living healthy is now, so learn about it on this episode.

Any diet that overly stresses you is going to be bad for you in the long run

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The entire world of medicine, especially in anti-aging, is about to change
  • Any diet that overly stresses you is going to be bad for you in the long run
  • Humans weren’t made to graze, so it’s better to have specific set times when you eat meals
  • Listen to your body, listen to the way you feel after eating certain things, pay attention, and adjust what you’re eating based on that
  • There need to be more or better quality and quantity control in substances like marijuana
  • While there are clear exceptions to most rules, you still have to look at the data everywhere

“Use regret minimization as a rule of thumb for making decisions” - Tai Lopez

If you want to be intelligent in your decision making, and in your everyday life, you need to learn how to take emotion out of the decisions that you make. When it comes to analyzing, a cold and calculated approach, in the middle of a lot emotions and opinions flying around, is what is needed.

Today’s episode is about how to make the right decision in difficult circumstances, how to use regret minimization, and why positive incentives are more powerful than negative incentives.

“To be super intelligent, you have to reduce emotion in controversial conversations” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Use regret minimization as a rule of thumb for making decisions
  • To be super intelligent, you have to reduce emotion in controversial conversations

“Practical intelligence is the most important kind of intelligence” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

The skill of the making good decisions is one of the most important skills to master in your life. There are several ways to go about it, but one of the best strategies is to look at the different courses, and ask which way has the most potential for regret, and then take the other one.

Regrets are one of the worst things you can have, so if you live you life with an eye towards always looking for the way to have the least of them as you get older, you will be happy with your decisions as you go.

“Use the idea of regret minimization to make decisions: Go the way that will leave you with less regrets” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Practical intelligence is the most important kind of intelligence
  • You should never take one side of an argument without being able to argue the other side as well
  • The more important, the less intelligent and objective we become
  • Use the idea of regret minimization to make decisions: Go the way that will leave you with less regrets
  • The number one regret of most people when they get older is not spending enough time around the people they love
  • Always ask what the downside is to every decision, and go for the one with the lease downside

“Humans learn through absorption” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

This is a roundup of the best moments from throughout the week on the Tai Lopez Show. We talk about diets, whether or not veganism is healthy, how to pick the perfect diet for you, how to “date” a business idea before “marrying” it, why pre-sale is so important to business, how to look at the “risk adjusted return” on a business idea, and much more.

Whether your goal is to turn into a fat burning machine, make your life overall more healthy, or build a strong business from the ground up, today’s episode will help you on that journey.

“It’s not the strongest or the smartest who survive, but the most adaptable” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • It’s predicted that 100 major brands will be bankrupt in the next year
  • It’s not the strongest or the smartest who survive, but the most adaptable
  • It’s better to kill a business early than drag it out for years and then have it die
  • “Date” business ideas before marrying them
  • Pre-sale your business idea to find out if it’s actually a good idea or not
  • Humans learn through absorption
  • Depending on the field, technical knowledge is often obsolete
  • Look at the “risk adjusted return” of ideas: How much risk is involved, for how much potential return
  • In marketing, you need to learn how to be ethically persuasive without being manipulative
  • The psychology of selling is probably just as important as the logistics
  • Find a way to gain some success early on, to spur you on to work harder
  • There is more opportunity right now for someone who is poor to work there way up than there was in the past
  • Everyone needs to experiment with their diet to find out what specific combination is right for them

“If you make too much money too fast, you might not really know what you’re doing, and then lose it all” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

If you try to make too much money too quickly, you probably won’t know what you’re doing, and could easily lose it all. That’s why I recommend a special strategy when it comes to increasing your income, to make sure you’re always headed in the right direction, but in a way that is safe for your future.

Today’s episode is about that strategy, to make sure that you are gaining wealth in a smart way.

“Try to make $100/month. After you can do that 3 months in a row, 10X it. Rinse and repeat” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Don’t try to get super rich super fast, just make sure that you’re continually making more money all the time
  • Try to make $100/month. After you can do that 3 months in a row, 10X it. Rinse and repeat
  • It is possible to make money too fast. Focus on steadily making more all of the time instead of skipping steps
  • If you make too much money too fast, you might not really know what you’re doing, and then lose it all

(click to tweet)

Curiosity is one of the most essential ingredients to success, because it will ensure that you are constantly learning new things and thereby improving yourself. Try to cultivate an insatiable desire within you to learn more every day, and you will go far.

Today we’re talking about how to make sure that this learning continues throughout your life. As your knowledge rises, your income and happiness will, too.

“Focus on just making sure that your income goes up every year” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Focus on just making sure that your income goes up every year
  • You can get into trouble making money too fast, and not knowing what you’re doing
  • The world will change incredibly quickly in the coming years, leaving lots of potential success available to anyone who can see it and take advantage of it
  • If a business isn’t doing too well, don’t be ashamed to shut it down. It’s much better than dragging it out for years
  • Pre-sell to test your idea
  • Humans learn through absorption
  • Don’t only learn from one person, because each person will have different strengths that you need to learn from
  • Focus on things where you have an unfair advantage

“The biggest fear you should have in life is having regrets at the end of it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

There is a serious lack of perspective in much of the world today. When it comes to the things people are worried about, what they stress over, what keeps them up at night, and how much “risk” they think they can take, there is often a profound lack of perspective.

Today’s episode is a short reminder that most people in 1st world countries have it extremely well, and that what you should fear far more than the risk of trying something and failing, is the risk of not trying something and having regrets at the end of your life.

So live your life with a regret-minimizing attitude toward your decisions. Use the idea of getting to the end of your life with as few regrets as possible as your guiding light when it comes to making decisions, and just remember that even if you feel like you’re taking a risk, if you look at the potential downside, it’s probably pretty great compared with most people in world and throughout history.

“Wherever you are in life, be able to rewire your mind to proper thinking and perspective on reality” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • If you think you’ve had a rough life, just know that someone has had it worse than you, and been more successful than you
  • Life could be so much worse. Keep that in mind, to make you more thankful and give you more drive to make much of what you have
  • Keep perspective on your life
  • Keep perspective on how much risk you’re actually taking. Chances are, it’s less than you think
  • Don’t focus on minor issues, focus on major issues
  • Wherever you are in life, be able to rewire your mind to proper thinking and perspective on reality
  • The biggest fear you should have in life is having regrets at the end of it

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The future of diets is in-depth customization toward specific gene makeups
  • Veganism is a great diet to clean you up, if you have been eating a lot of less clean foods
  • While veganism can be a good thing for a short amount of time, to clean out your system, a lot of people have difficulties with the diet in the long run
  • When you are stuck on one diet for a long time, your chances of missing certain important nutrients goes up
  • Look at dieting as something that you rotate, moving through different types, to not only find what works best for you, but also to make sure you are developing any deficiencies by following one diet for too long
  • Listen to your body very carefully, to discover what works best for you in a diet
  • Bad animals sources are worse for you than bad vegan sources
  • The secret to fat loss is to:
    • Not have your blood sugar levels rise throughout the day
    • Have no period of time during the day when those blood sugar levels spike
  • Accomplish the above by:
    • Consuming the equivalent of 2 teaspoons of ceylon cinnamon per day
    • Consuming bitter melon extract
  • Any supplement that claims to be for fat loss should accomplish that not by jacking up your central nervous system, but by instead controlling your blood sugar levels
  • The best beginner diet is one you can stick with
  • Cut out any oil that has been oxidized, heated, or pressurized
  • Try to find and eat local foods whenever possible

If you are struggling with goals, procrastination, or motivation just work on one thing: Imagination.

(click to tweet)

One of the biggest complaints people have is the ability to find motivation. It’s so easy to procrastinate and just wish things would happen for you. The trick to overcoming procrastination is all in your mind.

You need to use your imagination. Create a vision of where you want to be, and then make a plan and start taking steps toward where you see yourself. A good rule is the 50/50 rule. Spend 50% of your day imagining, and the other 50% of your day doing.

It’s important to get out there and really take action. If you just dream, it’ll never come into fruition. If you don’t dream you’ll never get the motivation. It’s a simple cycle to get started, and if you really imagine it happening you’ll become so excited you can’t stop yourself from making it happen.

On this episode of the Tai Lopez show, Tai breaks down the steps you need to get things moving and how to tell if a dream is really achievable or if you are just experiencing the American Idol Syndrome.

Download this episode now to see how you can get a jump start on making your dreams a reality.

When you start imagining you must start doing at the same time.

The Cliff Notes:

  • Everyone struggles with procrastination and lacking goals.
  • Procrastination is solved by having a vision of the future.
  • Just because you imagine it doesn’t mean you can do it.
  • 30% of people imagine too much.
  • When you start imagining you must start doing at the same time.
  • Tai spends half the day imagining, and the other half doing it.
  • You have to know your field to know if you can really succeed.

The biggest mistake people make when they decide to start a business is that they start too big. They invest everything they have in one idea, and hope everything goes well.

This is setting you up for failure.

If you look at the best investors, they spread themselves out. They invest in many little projects and whatever starts to take off is where they put their concentration.

You don’t have to have a lot of money to start investing in your own business. In fact, you can start any business for under a hundred dollars but testing the waters and slowly growing into something bigger.

On the off chance that you do have a lot of money to invest in something, don’t throw it all at starting a project. Take a good chunk of money and use it to educate yourself. In order to truly be successful you have to understand every part of the industry you are going into.

Without the knowledge to succeed, you can’t succeed.

On this episode of The Tai Lopez Show, Tai sits down with Zach and Rome to discuss various ways you can begin an entrepreneur endeavor. They also discuss current politics, sports, and dive into Zach’s love life.

  • You can test any business idea for under $100.
  • The business industry is saturated.
  • You have to learn history so things don’t repeat.
  • Statues aren’t our biggest problems in this country.
  • The civil was caused by an extreme divide - are we close to that?
  • Wherever there is ignorance, there is more crime.
  • We need to fix our hospitals.
  • There are too many people falsely imprisoned.
  • No other country has as much college debt as the US.
  • Obesity is on the rise, and more children are becoming pre-diabetic.
  • The media focuses on headlines that sell, not the important news.
  • In in seven men and one in four women have mental impairments according to the APA.
  • Procrastination is solved by ambition.
  • To increase your motivation, increase your vision and imagination of the future.

“If people are high in narcissism they feel entitled to a larger slice of the pie.” - Dr. David Buss

(click to tweet)

If you haven’t heard of it before, there’s something called the dark triad. It’s a test that analyzes your exploitative personality traits: Narcissism, Psychopathy, and Machiavellianism. These traits seems to be on the rise in today’s society.

In fact Tai had models who auditioned for his clothing line take the test, and had his staff not call back anyone who scored more than a 60%. As a result they had to turn away 70% of the models, which is much higher than normal.

On this episode of The Tai Lopez, Tai and Dr. David Buss dive into what is making these exploitative traits increase. Download this episode today to see what is contributing to this epidemic.

In the year 1900 90% of society lived in rural or small villages. Today it’s switched.

(click to tweet)

The Cliff Notes:

  • The dark triad has increased in recent years.
  • Narcissism is not being able to see other people’s side and feeling entitled.
  • Machiavellianism is being two faced.
  • Psychopathy is a lack of empathy.
  • In 1900 most people lived in small societies, now most people live in big cities.
  • In cities people can escape consequences.
  • Social media is bringing light to the narcissism today.
  • People in the midwest are less likely to be narcissistic.

“In large cities, people can escape the reputational consequences of treating others poorly, which contributes to the rise of some poor character traits” - Dr. David Buss

(click to tweet)

Today I’m interviewing one of the authors I quote the most, Dr. David Buss. Dr. Buss, wrote the book “Evolutionary Psychology.” Were talking about some of the taboo subjects that people get uncomfortable to talk about: How do you define “mate-worthiness?”

While the topic makes people uncomfortable, it is a very important one to get into. What are the factors of “mate-worthiness?” Can you affect them, to make yourself a better candidate? What do different people look for?

We’re getting into all of these questions and more, plus debuting “Tai’s Diary,” where I talk about my life at the moment, what I’m up to, and the thoughts on my mind right now. Enjoy!

“For a long-term relationship to work, you need to prioritize intelligence levels” - Dr. David Buss

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • We have evolved a few different strategies toward mating, depending on our needs
  • People tend to select one specific mating strategy, depending on aspects about them such as religion, how they were raised, what is important to them, etc
  • When there is a surplus of women, the mating strategy tends to shift away from monogamy. When there is a surplus of men, the opposite is the case
  • A huge percentage of all violence is related to mating
  • The amount of choice in the world today is what makes decisions difficult
  • Most people have to make compromises in exactly everything you ideally want in a mate
  • The modern world has created situations that actually favor some psychopathic behavior, which could be some of the cause of the rise of it today
  • In large cities, people can escape the reputational consequences of treating others poorly, which contributes to the rise of some poor character traits
  • For a long-term relationship to work, you need to prioritize intelligence levels
  • You need to have good insight into your own mate-value, so that you know who and where you may need to compromise
  • Personal hygiene is one of the easiest ways to increase your own level of mate-worthiness
  • Don’t underestimate the value of going to the gym in order to achieve greater mate-worthiness

“Learn from everyone, even your haters” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today, I invited a hater on my show. Instead of running from people, I invite them in to have a conversation that will allow us to learn from each other.

That is the fundamental mindset difference between a hater, someone who looks for the bad or reaches for ways to fulfill the narrative that they already have in their own minds, and someone with an open mind toward learning.

You can learn from everyone, even your haters. Just avoid the trap of becoming a hater, because few mindsets are harder to triumph over.

“Analyze your own mindset to see if it is holding you back or helping you get ahead” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Take business marketing principles, and apply them to other aspects of life to develop growth
  • Learn from everyone, even your haters
  • Analyze your own mindset to see if it is holding you back or helping you get ahead
  • If you look deep enough into anybody’s life, you will find that they are not a saint
  • Try to go through life with a mindset of learning from everyone, because almost everyone has something to teach you

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Social media is a necessary tool to get you free attention
  • Use social media to check the daily trends to take advantage of
  • Sometimes you have to lose money to make money
  • BUT, be extremely careful about when you are willing to lose money, and only in the long term strategy toward making money
  • Help old people with technology
  • Try asking why 3 times about everything to get to the core of what is going on
  • There are genetic reasons for different people’s worldview
  • Be very careful with zero-sum games, where someone else must lose for you to win
  • Don’t overestimate your own intelligence

“If you cannot focus for long periods of time, you are in big trouble” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Most of what is either good or bad in your life will hinge on the decisions you made in life. This is a powerful thing to think about, and something that not enough people spend time considering. Extrapolating from there, this means that the ability to make good decisions is one of, if not THE most important ability you can develop!

What science has taught us about decision making is that you will make better decisions if you focus on risk mitigation, rather than focusing on the good that may happen.  If your focus is on how to mitigate your risk, your decisions will be better overall.

In addition, we talk about Trump’s response to Charlottesville, as well as lots more, on this episode of The Tai Lopez Show.

“Every good or bad thing in your life will hinge on a decision you made” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Being smart has to do more with practical decision-making, and less with things like mathematical abilities
  • Every good or bad thing in your life will hinge on a decision you made
  • He who has choice has trouble
  • Usually, the more important the decision, the less objective we become and the more we allow emotion to cloud our judgement
  • If you want to be more intelligent, lower the emotion that goes into a decision
  • One of the best ways to make a decision is not to try to decide which will turn out best, but rather to choose what will minimize the risk of regret
  • For each decision, ask yourself: Will I regret this decision? Which option will I regret more?

“Becoming wealthy is primarily a game of not being stupid” - Tai Lopez

  • If too many people get excited and decide to jump into an idea, the price will drop quickly

  • Learn and understand the banking system and how interest works, to be able to make smart decisions with your money
  • Overcome procrastination with ambition
  • Ambition comes out of vision
  • Keep reverse engineering life to become a powerful person
  • Ambitious people can taste it before they have it, and that is what keeps them going until they get it
  • You must always keep a new challenge in front of you, to continue to drive your ambitions
  • The best jobs for teenagers these days are in sales, to learn important skills for the future
  • If you want to make it in the stock market, reprogram your brain to be an expert in everything to do with it
  • Cash flow is one of the most important things to focus on in earning money
  • The harder the decision is, the more you tend to inject emotion into the decision, when you should do the opposite
  • Study and understand the mistakes that your brain makes, to see them coming and avoid them
  • For the most part, your brain will define your life, and the quality of your life
  • Create an efficient daily routine to be more productive and do a lot more with your life
  • If you can focus for long periods of time, you’re a long way towards being able to make more money than most
  • Becoming wealthy is primarily a game of not being stupid

  • At the beginning of your day, figure out the specific 3-5 things you really need to do that day

“It’s ok to be a little eccentric, but know where it becomes a problem” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

As you go through life, you come to the realization that many people have serious psychological problems. Whatever metric or system you use to measure psychological issues, you will find that a very large number of the people that you run across exhibit those traits.

But times reveals everything, so when it comes to deciding the people you will have relationships with, whether personal or business, give it some time. It’s easy for someone to pretend to be someone that they are not for a few weeks or a few months, but try to give it a year to make sure you know who they really are.

Then, understand that everyone has a little weird in them. Everyone has a different mix of character traits, with desirable and less desirable aspects mixed in. Just make sure the weirdness doesn’t out-weigh the rest too much. Allow for the mix in your relationships, as long as it’s not overboard.

“Three things that will mess you up: Pride, stubbornness, and being overly sensitive” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Probably about 70% of people that you will run into have serious psychological issues
  • If you don’t understand psychological issues, you might start second-guessing yourself and thinking that you’re the one with issues
  • The dark triad is one way to understand psychological issues of varying degrees
  • It’s ok to be a little eccentric, but know where it becomes a problem
  • Three things that will mess you up: Pride, stubbornness, and being overly sensitive
  • A lot of times pride expresses itself as anger
  • Often, stubborn people come across as very nice, but do not act on advice
  • Everybody is allowed to be a little weird. Maybe 20%. Just not too much
  • The first step in progress is massive awareness
  • Be careful about all new relationships. Time reveals all, so give it time to understand who people really are
  • Be honest with yourself. Admit who you are and your weakness. And see if maybe you should get a pro to help you, and see a psychologist

“Don’t try to please everyone. Just do you” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

It feels like the level of narcissism in the world is continually increasing. Just take a look at your Instagram feed, and you will see it proudly on display. It seems like nothing is more important to people today than themselves and their looks.

Maybe it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate our emphasis. Put more effort into the truly important things in life, and less into the ones that don’t matter. Put less effort into how you look, and more into what you do.

At the end of the day, you can’t please everyone, so don’t worry about it. Just do you, and do good in the world.

“Be willing to experiment. Don’t be close-minded” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Don’t try to please everyone. Just do you
  • Narcissism is everywhere. People think it’s all about them
  • Be willing to experiment. Don’t be close-minded
  • You need a small amount of narcissism to improve yourself. But it seems like it’s out of control these days
  • We need to become more curious people about many things

“The older generation shows us what toughness truly is” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Will Durant said, “A nation is born stoic, and dies epicurean.” This means that, at the beginning of a nation’s lifespan, it’s citizens are tough. They understand the true meaning of difficulty and stress. They don’t stress out over the small things in life, because they have bigger things to worry about. They’re tough, and they find a way to turn a horrible situation into something great.

But as the nation continues in prosperity, its citizens turn epicurean. The focus turns to luxury and materialism. As this happens, smaller and smaller difficulties stress citizens, until the toughness level has decreased to the point where everyone is so weak-willed that tiny difficulties can destroy them.

Experience difficulties. Toughen yourself up, and teach yourself that you can truly handle difficulties, and come out on top! Instead of running from difficulties, embrace them as opportunities to toughen yourself.

“Give kids access to tools to help them make money instead of materialistic things” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • A nation is born stoic and dies epicurean
  • The older generation shows us what toughness truly is
  • America used to be full of tough people who could handle true difficulties
  • People in today’s society stress over very small things
  • You should want things that are difficult, not run from them. Stress is the only way you get stronger
  • Give your kids access to tools to help them make money, rather than giving them whatever material thing they happen to want at the moment
  • Find a way, through toughness and resilience, into good things
  • Do manual labor, work on a farm, live without electricity. Toughness yourself up
  • If you stress about small things, when the big problems come, you won’t be able to handle it
  • Use money as a tool to help you live an adventurous and good life
  • People like to outrage over things, but if they really, truly cared about what they are outraged about, the would show it with their actions and money

“Take deep dives into some of the more difficult and high-level topics of life. It’s important to work out your brain” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Some episodes of The Tai Lopez Show are on light topics, and for anyone, but sometimes you need to get deep. This episode is a bit higher level than other episodes have been. We’re discussing Will Durant and his ideas about humanity, hero’s, war, and the natural balance of the world.

It’s important to train your brain to be able to tackle difficult or complicated topics. As with any ability or skill, it’s a muscle that has to be worked out, and today we’re giving you that workout through this discussion.

So don’t shy away from tougher topics like these, but embrace them with excitement to learn and better yourself!

“You will always offend people with whatever you do, so don’t worry too much about it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

This message is a hard hitting reminder that, while we all make mistakes, it’s extremely important that you always put out work that is the highest quality of which you are capable.

After doing something, if you can honestly say it was the best you could have done, nobody can fault you. But if you did not pursue the work in a conscientious way, with an understanding of the consequences to yourself or whoever you work for, you have no excuse.

This is a piece of internal communication with my team, as well as a lesson for everyone who wants to accomplish big things in this world: Everyone likes to make excuses for why they didn’t do as good a job as they wanted, but pure results are the real measure of what has been done. Hold yourself to this high standard, and you will go far.

“It’s extremely important to be able to say and admit to yourself that you messed up” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • You will always offend people with whatever you do, so don’t worry too much about it
  • Instead of immediately making a judgement call about something, good or bad, right or wrong, try to see what you can learn from it first
  • Learn from everything instead of making an immediate value judgement about it
  • Put yourself in someone else’s shoes to better understand what’s really going on
  • The best way to deal with humans is to always start out nice with people, and then treat them back the way that they treat you
  • You can tell when something is being dealt with in a consciousness way, or when it was not
  • It’s extremely important to be able to say and admit to yourself that you messed up

“Study history so that you don’t make stupid decisions” - Tai Lopez

Do you read history? Today, most people don’t. Most people don’t read at all, but if they do read, it’s probably either light, fluffy novels or maybe a self-help book here and there. But what about history? What can a deeper understanding of history do for your life, in helping you achieve the best life possible?

Today, I’m going through some moments in history, and what can be learned from them. Because without and understanding of history, there really is no way that we can predict the future. But because history tends to repeat itself, if we develop an understanding and knowledge of history and the trends that come back time and time again, we can better understand the world around us, and make more sense of where it’s headed, as well as if current political decisions are likely to be a good idea.

"The reward should be emphasized in education to motivate students to learn" - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • To start learning history, focus first on what you enjoy
  • History should be more about stories than dates and numbers to be interesting
  • Show the reward before you teach in order to effectively learn, and want to learn!
  • First you get the mindset, then you launch the business, then you get the money. The progression is important
  • Use the HEXACO personality test to more fully understand personalities
  • The C, which stands for Conscientiousness, is probably the most important attribute when it comes to making money
  • Conscientiousness:
    • Perfectionism
    • Organization
    • Prudence (the ability to make good decisions)
  • Parents are usually the worst thing for their kids
  • Politics and Republican vs Democrat tends to have more to do with personality types
  • Knowing history, and how it repeats itself, will help you earn more money and be more successful
  • The mark of an intelligent person is to see both sides of a story
  • Study history so that you don’t make stupid decisions

“Be careful about business models where your costs grow with your revenue” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Everyone is looking for the ideal business model. They’re looking to discover the perfect model to bring ever increasing revenue. Today, I’m talking about two common business models, and which I prefer.

The two models: Netflix and Spotify. Netflix buys out agreements with content creators, whereas Spotify pays royalties dependent on number listens.

Therefore, as Spotify’s income increases, so too does their cost. But as Netflix’s income increases, their costs stay the same, or even decrease.

This is one of the most important factors to look at when analyzing a potential business. Will cost increase as revenue increases, or will cost stay the same or even decrease?

Look for business models where cost decreases as revenue increases.

“The ideal business is one where you sell ever increasing units at an ever decreasing cost” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Be careful about business models where your costs grow with your revenue
  • Look for a way for cost to decrease as income increases
  • The ideal business is one where you sell ever increasing units at an ever decreasing cost
  • When you start a business, be careful about signing licensing and royalty agreements where your cost will increase with increased revenue

“The world needs people who are willing to say it like it is, and not gloss over it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

We learn a lot of things in school, but the emphasis is often put on the less practical pieces of information, rather than the knowledge that will really help you get ahead and live a good life.

On today’s episode, I’m going through some of the things that they should have taught us in school. I’m taking questions from the audience, to give you the information that is going to truly help you live the kind of life you want to.

We go through how to get investments, how to pitch, why you should hire an accountant, how to save money on taxes, and why education will be the ultimate way we can lessen poverty in the world.

“There are no solutions, only trade offs. So pick your poison” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The world needs people who are willing to say it like it is, and not to gloss over it
  • On the flip side, if someone tells it to you like it is, you need to not get offended by it, but take the truth from it and use it to motivate you
  • Good investors know that they should invest in the human above the business
  • If you’re pitching a business, you need to tell a story. A story will make something relatable and make it stand out to the people you’re pitching to
  • If you’re looking for investments, start with people you know. It will be a lot easier to get the first money from them
  • Unless you have a background as an accountant, you should probably hire an accountant, even before you’re making a lot of money
  • The best way to save on taxes is to own a business and write off expenses
  • Never mess with the IRS. Don’t try to be tricky with taxes
  • If you want to make a lot of money, you will pay a lot of taxes
  • You can’t tax people enough to end poverty. Instead, you must increase productivity if you want to combat poverty, and the best way to increase productivity is to educate people
  • The way you fix the most problems in the world is through education
  • There are no solutions, only trade offs. So pick your poison

“You have to train yourself to laugh at adversity” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today, it feels like everyone is looking for something to be offended by. Whether the thing has anything to do with them or not, they’re on the search for something that they can be offended by.

If you really need to be offended, though, be offended by the big problems in the world! Or, better yet, choose to learn from the process of being offended, and improve yourself through it.

Take the things that people say to you, that would offend weaker people, and use them as motivation to work on improving yourself everyday.

“Use pain and feeling offended to motivate yourself to improve” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Today it seems like people are looking for ways to be offended
  • Sometimes, you need to be a little hurt by the truth, to help you change something about yourself
  • The sooner that you learn that people won’t like you and you will be offended, the sooner you can get used to it
  • If all you do is get offended, you don’t hurt the person who offended you, you only hurt yourself
  • Don’t take things personally, because 99% of the time it’s not even about you anyways
  • You have to train yourself to laugh at adversity
  • You’re only free when you’re the master of your thoughts
  • Use pain and feeling offended to motivate yourself to improve
  • Your brain gravitates toward negativity, so negative comments will really affect you if you let them
  • The emotional motivation of pain can bring you to success
  • Harness what offends weaker people, and turn it into your motivation

“Never be the person signing a contract that you don’t fully understand” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

How careful are you about the contracts that you sign? Do you read them and fully understand them, in all of their details, before attaching your signature? Or do you think it will all just magically “work out” somehow for you?

Too many people do the later. They don’t pay enough attention.

This is such a common thread you see in the world: Plain ignorance. As I say on this episode, the root of all the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. The root of all problems is ignorance, plain and simple.

But, in a lot of ways, it’s not everyone’s fault: The schooling system has set them up for failure. It’s set them up to go through the most formative years of life without learning the most practical skills. Things like money management, entrepreneurship, just pure logical thinking, all get passed over, and, to make matters worse, children are given tons of sugar through the sodas they drink, and then forced to sit through a standardized test. It’s no wonder people don’t come out with good critical thinking skills.

Don’t be someone who contributes to the main problem in the world of ignorance. Educate yourself, and learn to be smarter and more practical.

“The root of the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. It’s ignorance” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Be very careful with money. Always underestimate your claims to insure you are safe with your estimates
  • Manage people’s expectations by underestimating
  • Videotape something if you could potentially need more proof in the future
  • If you ever invest money in something, don’t expect it to come back. Only give money you can survive without ever seeing back
  • Don’t personally guarantee anything unless you are ready to pay the full thing, because you may have to
  • Never be the person signing a contract that you don’t fully understand
  • Children should start learning practical money management techniques young
  • School should focus more on skills
  • Incentive people with what works to incentivize them! Whether that’s cars, girls, mansions, do what actually works!
  • People at the top should raise up everyone else, not keep them down
  • The root of the problems in the world is not the rich getting richer. It’s ignorance

“Perfectionism is often considered a negative thing, when it is really a positive” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

When it comes to success, only a multifaceted approach works. The University of Pennsylvania found that the number one trait that contributes to success is conscientiousness. There are 5 facets of conscientiousness: Industriousness, perfectionism, organization, diligence, and prudence. Each of these facets plays a role, and today’s episode is about how each contributes, and how you can build your strength in each area.

But it’s important to understand that a combination of many different factors are going to lead to your ultimate ability to succeed in this life. Don’t get too fixated on any one, but take a careful and holistic approach to learning and improving yourself. Focus on the 5 aspects of conscientiousness to improve your ability to succeed in life.

“Organization is essential to productivity and progress in your life” - Tai Lopez

“There are three types of people: People making things happen, people watching things happen, and people wondering what happened” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

People tend to underestimate what they can do, and what is possible, because they don’t have the ability to focus. If you can’t really concentrate your efforts on one task for an extended period of time, you’re going to find it a lot more difficult to actually get things done.

That is why the ability to turn on intense focus for as much time as is needed is absolutely essential to your success. Without it, you will jump aimlessly from task to task, not finishing anything, and not getting anywhere closer to your goals.

Learn to skill of focus, because it will help with every other area of your life.

“You can do a lot more than you think you can do if you can just learn how to really focus” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • There are three types of people: People making things happen, people watching things happen, and people wondering what happened
  • Be focused and practical
  • You can do a lot more than you think you can do if you can just learn how to really focus
  • There is a time to stop and smell the roses, but if you’re not where you want to be, then now is not that time
  • Anyone who thinks a president or political party will fix your problem is wrong
  • In many ways, success of a lot more simple than people think
  • Awareness of where you are and where you want to go is the first step to getting there
  • If you have a problem, admit it. If you’re broke, admit it, and move on to the next phase
  • The problem with people blaming other people for their financial problems is that they will never get out of the situation they find themselves in
  • There’s no long-term fix for making more than you make, you have to recognize it and change it
  • At the end of the day, nobody really cares about you but you
  • If people took have the time that they spent complaining about things and put it into fixing their situation, they might not have anything to complain about anymore

“There is a science behind habits, and it’s important to learn it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Too many people go through life haphazardly, without purpose and forethought, stumbling from thing to thing, and from idea to idea. This lack of focus will keep you from truly achieving great things in your life.

But if you learn how to create the right habits and neuro pathways in your brain to help you do small amounts of a task, regularly every day for a long time, you’re ability to succeed in life will skyrocket, and you’ll achieve what you thought you couldn’t.

Learn how to create those neuro pathways and create habits on today’s episode of the Tai Lopez Show.

“Habits keep you from going through life haphazardly” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Fitness, money-making, public speaking, ability to read people, the ability to influence people, are all habits that people create
  • At the age of 25, your neural pathways are pretty set as far as habits. You can still change and create habits, but it’s more difficult
  • There is a science behind habits, and it’s important to learn it
  • Habits keep you from going through life haphazardly
  • People think they have time when they’re young, but in reality you should be in a hurry to create the right habits because it will only get more difficult as you get older
  • It’s better to do small chunks of a task regularly, to create the pathway in your brain to make it easier each time you go to do that task, and work harder at it
  • Move from one thing to the other logically and thoughtfully, with a single end in mind

“The school system should be less about memorizing information and more about forming good habits” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

The school system focuses far too much on memorizing data. In today’s age, data is not nearly as important as good habits. You can find any information you really need at a moment’s notice on your phone. But habits, which define how you spend your time day in and day out, are going to make the difference in how successful you are able to be.

Listen to today’s podcast to find out the importance of habits in your life and how to build better ones.

“The things you both love and hate in life will come down to the habits you form” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The school system should be less about memorizing information and more about forming good habits
  • The chains of habits are too weak to be felt until they’re too strong to be broken
  • Get in new habit learning as early as possible, because the younger you are, the easier it is
  • The things you both love and hate in life will come down to the habits you form
  • When practicing something, get in it for the long haul. Don’t give up, just do a small amount every single day

“Almost everything you hate or love about life stems from a habit” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Almost everything in your life, whether you love it or hate it, can be traced back to some habit you formed. Whether it’s procrastinating when you know you should be working on something, watching hours of TV everyday, or good things like constantly looking for solutions, eating healthy, getting good amounts of sleep. In a large part, your life is simply made up of a bunch of habits you’ve created over time.

This is why the school system should focus much more on forming the right habits, rather than memorizing things. Habits and having the right habits define how happy and successful you will be in life, but they’re not created instantly. They have to be refined and worked on continually, over a long amount of time. But keep at them, and they will turn into powerful pillars for your good life.

“The school system should be far more geared toward creating the right habits, instead of memorization” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they’re too strong to be broken
  • Almost everything you hate or love about life stems from a habit
  • The school system should be far more geared toward creating the right habits, instead of memorization
  • It’s much easier to form habits when you’re younger, so start now and work hard on creating the right habits
  • It’s better to do 15 minutes a day for a long time then to keep going all in, and giving up

Today is another short reminder-episode about happiness. Most of the ways life works is against your happiness, whether it’s the unfairness of life, other people trying to take advantage of you, your body’s natural decay over time, natural disasters, or other things.

It’s important to be realistic about life, know that these are the facts, so that, armed with that knowledge, you can fight back, and fight for your happiness.

“Build on your strengths, NOT weaknesses” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today I’m showing you the 3 steps to finding the right career for you. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, or are trying to figure out the right line of work to go into, I’m going through the simple 3-step process to find out what you should do, and what you will be happy doing long-term.

Because that is what is really important for a career: Find out what you can enjoy day in and day out for years. You will find certain topics and issues that fascinate you for a moment in time, but that will turn into feeling like just a lot of work if you have to do them day after day for years.

So, instead of just looking at what you might be infatuated with at the moment, try to understand what you have a deep and lasting curiosity for, because that is the work that, over time, while it might not be as interesting as it once was, you will still enjoy doing.

Listen to today’s episode to find the rest of the three steps..

“Build a business that can scale up without a lot of work” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Build on your strengths, NOT weaknesses
  • Build on curiosity. You’re love for what you do might come and go a bit, but if you’re super curious about it, you’ll stay interested in it
  • If you build on curiosity, you might not feel at a 10 out of 10 all the time, but you’ll still enjoy it

“Reinvest in the people around you” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today I’m talking about 3 millionaire mentor tips that will help you find more success in your life financially. A lot of people don’t realize the importance of good credit, or don’t understand how it works well enough to be able to get a high score. But if you have good credit, you are able to use other people’s money to make more money, and that is when it all becomes very scaleable. There are some very specific tricks to make sure that your credit score is high, and I am going through some of those in this episode.

In addition, I talk about when it’s a good idea to go into debt and when it is not, why you should ALWAYS go to events if you can, but not necessarily stay for long, how to act around people that you would like to network with for business, and why reinvesting in those around you is one of the smartest things you can do.

“Don’t go deep into debt for anything that will not generate any income” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Learn the game of getting and keeping good credit
  • Keep 8-10% balance on your card
  • If you can get the game of good credit under control, you can use other people’s money to make more money
  • Don’t go deep into debt for anything that will not generate any income
  • Put your cards on autopay
  • Don’t go above about 50%
  • Go to events that you don’t like, but don’t feel like you need to stay too long. Just get in the habit of putting yourself out there
  • When you meet people you really want to a relationship with, don’t push too hard or act too needy

“If you have to be on your best behavior on the first date, you’re probably not a good fit” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

What are my top 3 pieces of advice for people who want a better dating life? The first is to never date someone who is not attracted to you. If they are with you for other reasons, you will have big problems down the road.

That might seem obvious, but a lot of people are caught in the trap of dating the people that they want to, without regard for this fundamental, foundational aspect in place. Be careful. Listen to this episode for the rest of my advice on how to have a better dating life!

“Only date people you naturally vibe with” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Do not date people who are not attracted to you
  • Use the dark triad test to weed out the crazy people
  • Go with people you naturally feel like you vibe with
  • If you have to be on your best behavior on the very first date, you might not actually have a good fit with the person

“The quickest path between two points is a straight line. FOCUS” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today I’m talking about the three main pieces of advice that I would give my younger self if I could go back in time. These are the broad ideas that are going to make a big difference in your life, no matter what your specific goals are.

First of all, the quickest path between two points is always a straight line. This means that you must bring determined and unrelenting focus to your goals. Whatever you see as your aim, you need to focus very strongly on that one thing, even though it can alter and change somewhat over time. Whatever it is right now, you need to be able to bring determined and long-term focus towards its accomplishment.

This is what is going to separate you from the rest of the people in the world who are also trying to accomplish things. Most of the world is distracted, and that is what is holding them back. But in a world full of distractions and distracted people, you need to bring intense focus to your goals, and you will see them accomplished.

For the other two things I would tell my younger self, as well as more advice on how to live the best life possible, listen to this episode of The Tai Lopez Show!

“You can get almost anything you want in life, but it will always take you a bit longer than you think” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The quickest path between two points is a straight line. FOCUS
  • Build on your strengths, not on your weaknesses
  • Do wish for other people’s strengths, and try to build on those
  • You can improve weaknesses, but you can’t primarily build on them
  • You can get almost anything you want in life, but it will always take you a bit longer than you think
  • The temptation to give up is right before you succeed
  • Life is a like a ladder, you start at the bottom, and if you try to jump up to the top too fast, you’ll fall on your face
  • Go on step, one rung of the ladder at a time
  • Go directly toward what you want, with focus, in everything in your life, whether personal or professional
  • Build the mental skills to be able to bring singular focus to whatever you need to
  • To get what you want, you need to deserve what you want
  • Pray for what you want
  • Everybody’s specific desire is different, but YOU know what you want, so FOCUS on it
  • Even if you’re young, don’t assume that you have a lot of time. Bring this kind of focus to your goals, so you aren’t left with regret
  • When the whole world is distracted, YOU be FOCUSED

“Try to attain wisdom rather than just information” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Information is important, but facts can distract from the foundational principles of the world. A lot of people get far too caught up in the process of attaining peripheral information, rather than exploring and seeking to deeply understand the principles and foundations of life. Things like general economics, social skills, the ability to read people, and financial principles, are the kind of foundational knowledge that you should be seeking to acquire.

Because without them, when you simply focus on the peripheral information and education, it’s easy to be led astray by things that are not true. But knowledge and wisdom of foundational principles will allow you to see through the lies, identify them, and allow you to build on that foundation in a strong way so that you can be more successful in life and your pursuit of health, wealth, love and happiness.

“Wisdom is the common sense you get from being curious and observant” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Everyone has a different opinion on how to lead the best life. But you need focus in your life if you want to see success
  • If you aren’t careful in life, you just won’t get anything done
  • Try to attain wisdom rather than just information
  • Understand the foundational principles, so that you don’t get distracted by all of the extra information available. Without the foundation, you won’t be able to tell the truth from the lies
  • If you don’t have common sense and wisdom, you can make a lot of money, but will probably lose it
  • Sometimes you must be cynical, and sometimes cynicism closes the door on opportunity
  • Most problems come from problems of how to interact with people
  • Wisdom is the common sense you get from being curious and observant

“Most people only make money with time, but making it with money is infinitely scaleable” - Warren Buffett

(click to tweet)

This episode is a recounting of the notes I took at a recent Berkshire Hathaway shareholder’s meeting. Speaking and in attendance were Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Charlie Munger and many more, so on this episode I am going back through my notes to deliver the takeaways and key points to you.

Throughout the meeting, they got into issues like the concept of making money with money instead of time, why you should specialize, why you must be a constant, life-long learner, why good health is essential and should be a priority, as it will affect everything else that you try to do, and why you should do what you want to do NOW instead of waiting for the perfect time.

“College degrees are fine, but what are you learning RIGHT NOW?” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • One of the definitions of investing is the ability to make money with money
  • Most people only make money with time, but making it with money is infinitely scaleable
  • You have to understand the basic fundamentals before getting into advanced topics
  • You can’t be good at everything, you MUST specialize
  • Experiment, find what you’re good at, and then double down on that
  • Problems will not go away if left alone, they will only get worse
  • College degrees are fine, but what are you learning right now?
  • You don’t need a lot of wins to make a lot of money, you just need a few good ones
  • If you let your health go down, it will negatively affect the rest of what you’re trying to do
  • When you pick your career, don’t pick entirely based on money, pick based on your interest
  • Be cautious when making investments based on EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization)
  • Capitalism will always hurt a few while benefitting society as a whole
  • Every type of society has pros and cons
  • Never tell anyone about your problems. 90% of people don’t care, and the other 10% that do care are glad you have them

The 7-Takeaways

  1. Focus on your circle of competence- what you KNOW you’re good at
  2. When a problem arises, in any situation, deal with it quickly
  3. A life of continuous learning is a life that’s well-lived. The more you learn the more you earn
  4. You can’t catch all the investments. Know that you will miss some, and be ok with that
  5. While you do learn new things, be sure not to unlearn the old principles
  6. Keep your physical body in good shape, otherwise it will negatively affect the rest of what you do
  7. If you have something to do, don’t wait! Age will sneak up on you

Everyone needs to learn how to persuade other people if they want to be successful with anything in their life, but most people are going about it all the wrong way. Because most people think about themselves almost all of the time, are obsessed with themselves, their feelings, emotions and desires, these are the things that you need to appeal to if you want to be persuasive.

This might seem obvious, but very, very few people are really good at putting themselves in someone else’s shoes and really approaching a conversation, whether sales or other, from that viewpoint.

Today, we’re talking about how to effectively persuade someone through the skill of looking at life through the lens of their desires and emotions, not your own.

“People are in love with themselves, not with you, and good marketers understand that” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • If you want to convince and persuade someone, appeal to their desires
  • Nobody is ever convinced by logic. Appeal to desires, self interest, and emotions instead
  • Emotion is still the most powerful thing in almost anyone’s life
  • Start with other people’s interest, instead of your own, when you’re asking for anything
  • People are in love with themselves, not with you, and good marketers understand that
  • Focus on other people, and bring up your own needs last

Do you want to know the number 1 test to determine whether or not you should be friends with someone? The single test that will determine whether someone will be a benefit to your life, and lift it up, or whether they will be a drag on it, and pull you down? Ask them to do something simple for you.

That’s right, it’s as simple as that. But why does it work so well? Why will that immediately reveal whether you want someone in your life or not? And how do you do this test right? Find out in this episode of The Tai Lopez Show!

  • Reading people is by far the most important skill
  • Find out if people will be flexible enough to share their time with you, to find out if you want them as friends
  • Don’t make friends because you’re trying to help them. Find friends that will help you out

“If you want to be successful, there will be a point in your life when people will doubt you” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today we’re looking at several different google trends from around the world. If you want to be successful and have the opportunity to make a lot of money, it’s very important to be able to spot and take advantage of trends quickly, and google trends is one of the best ways to do that.

In addition, today we’re talking about why people will doubt you on your way to success. Then, when you are successful they will love and praise you, and then, chances are, they will hate you again, because public opinion is fickle, and it’s important to know that going in, so that you don’t tie your own self-worth to the public’s opinion of you.

“Look at both sides of issues, don’t be close-minded” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Use google trends to stay on top of what is happening in the world, and catch the trends as they come
  • Look at both sides of issues, don’t be close-minded
  • If you want to be successful, there will be a point in your life when people will doubt you
  • The people who doubt you will eventually love you, and then probably hate you again. The public opinion is fickle

“Always stay on top of the trends. Catching trends is one of the best ways to make money” - Tai Lopez

When you look at the stories of those who have done and accomplished incredible things, you will almost always find a point at which they were so far down on their luck, they were ready to give up, and thought it was all over for them.

When you feel discouraged or ready to give up, look at these stories, and consider the characters. If you feel like it can’t get any worse, know that people have gone through worse, come out on top, and you can too! Times of discouragement will come to everyone, so know that those stories are out there for you to draw courage from, and to help you pull through!

Social media is not going away anytime soon, and so those who can learn to effectively use it and grow their following steadily over time will win. That is the simple truth of the matter, and if you can’t see that, you will sadly be left behind in today’s economy.

But to grow a social media following takes careful thought, a willingness to experiment and observe the results, and tweak your processes to match what you find. This is what too many people miss: Because you can simply delete a social media post if you decide it was a bad idea, what is holding you back from posting? Experiment!

Listen to today’s episode to find out more about how I was able to grow my Instagram to 2 million followers and how you can too!

“You are what you are, and you have to build on your strengths” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Have you heard the saying “jack of all trades, master of none?” It comes from the idea that someone who tries to do EVERYTHING might end up not being really good at anything. It’s the idea behind specialization. Too many people are trying to be too broad, or are trying to build on their weaknesses, instead of recognizing their strengths and working on those, to optimize their results.

Then, work to surround yourself with people who have strengths in areas that you have weaknesses in, so that every area is covered. To spend too much time, energy, and effort working on your weaknesses will only be a waste of time.

Therefore, the key is to be able to accurately identify your real strengths, and this is something that most people have a very hard time doing. Listen to this episode to learn how to find your real strengths, and build on them, to live the best life possible!

“Awareness about yourself and who you are is the most important, first step” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The idea of authenticity is tricky, because it tends to mean different things to different people
  • You can change part of you, but part of you will always remain the same
  • You are what you are, and you have to build on your strengths
  • You’re wasting your effort and energy if you’re building on your weaknesses instead of your strengths
  • You can be very successful without trying to become someone other than who you are
  • Very few people actually have a good understanding of their strengths
  • A lot of people project what they wish was their strength, when it is not
  • Society will tell you that you need to be one way, but society speaks in generalizations which are often not completely correct
  • To find your strengths, go back to what people said about you when you were very young
  • Make a list of all your goals over the last 18 months, and then be very honest about which things were actually accomplished, and which you didn’t really do
  • Don’t beat yourself up over your weaknesses, focus on improving your strengths
  • Surround yourself with people who complement your weaknesses
  • No matter what your personality is, there’s somebody who is the exact opposite, and you should get around people like that
  • Awareness about yourself and who you are is the most important, first step
  • Find a balance in your life between all the things that you want, and allocate time

“The main reason that people procrastinate is because they don’t have the right rewards setup for themselves” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Most people have an extremely difficult time being productive and getting everything done that they need to because they constantly procrastinate. If you could learn how to end procrastination in your life, your productivity and output would absolutely skyrocket.

Today’s episode is about how you can set the right rewards in your life to make sure that you always have plenty of motivation to get beyond the temptation to procrastinate. And while the exact rewards will vary from person to person, the most important thing is knowing yourself well enough to know what rewards need to be set up for you, in order for you to not procrastinate.

“Stay calm and cool under pressure” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The reward is never as good as you think it will be, and pain is never as bad as you think
  • Money is not as great as people think
  • The school system is messed up because it doesn’t show reward to make people want to work
  • The main reason that people procrastinate is because they don’t have the right rewards setup for themselves
  • Use the rewards that you know will inspire you to massive action
  • More important than money, fast cars, or any material thing, is really understanding what inspires you
  • Stay realistic about each step of your life, keep it in context, probably none of it is as big a deal as you think
  • Stay calm and cool under pressure

Do you know what the Dark Triad is? The Dark Triad is a test that people can take that will show them what levels of narcissism, machiavellianism, and psychotic tendencies they have, and it one of the most telling tests for whether you want someone in your life or not.

As you go through life, you need to start recognizing these traits and tendencies in others, so that you can be on the lookout for them, and know which people to be careful around! Knowing how to read people is one of the most important skills you can develop, and I talk about it a lot. This episode is all about the dark triad character traits you need to look out for in your acquaintances, and how to spot them.

“Learn how to recognize different psychological issues in other people, and how to deal with them” - Tai Lopez

“There’s no single thing that will do as much to increase your ability to earn as much as educating yourself” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Standing out from the crowd is essential to earning more. If you blend in, you simply will not be noticed by the movers and shakers in any industry, so you won’t be able to climb the ladder to true influence and earning potential.

Today, I’m teaching you how to raise your VRIN score to stand out, and be more valuable in your industry, to earn more. VRIN stands for Valuable, Rare, Inimitable, and Non-Substitutable. A college degree used to be a very efficient way to raise your VRIN score, before they were so common.

But now, in the modern age, we need to find new ways to raise VRIN scores, and I’m teaching you exactly how on this episode.

“Have a combination of learning straight from the source and learning from people. Structure AND experiential learning” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Stand out by learning more than other people
  • You can often get visitor passes to college classes
  • There’s no single thing that will do as much to increase your ability to earn as much as educating yourself
  • You must learn things that are valuable to the world if you want to earn more
  • Understand where you stand as far as your employment status, and your full understanding of what you really want out of your life, and your motivations
  • If you’re unsure of what you should be doing, you’re never going to do a very good job of it
  • VRIN: Valuable, Rare, Inimitable, Non Substitutable
  • College degrees used to raise VRIN, because not too many people had them. Less so now
  • The new version of using college to raise your VRIN score is a combination of formal and self learning
  • Have a combination of learning straight from the source and learning from people. Structure AND experiential learning
  • Don’t underestimate the value of an elite team
  • Formalize your training program
  • Don’t just train once and expect the subject to be retained, review over and over again

“If you’re not as well equipped, you’ll always lose, even if you’re a better fighter” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Put time and effort into developing the right toolset. Too many people think that hustle is all that they need, and that if they have enough hustle, they will get where they want to go. But it’s not true, because having the right tools, and knowing how to effectively us them will take you much farther than hustle.

And HEXACO is a perfect example of that: If you know it, and understand how to apply it to real life, you will know who you should be friends with, go into business with, or have in your life for any reason, while the person who simply sees more hustle as the goal will have to go through a process of trial and error to find the right person, and waste tons of time on the way.

Put effort into developing the right toolset through books, podcasts, seminars, conferences, and anywhere else you can learn.

“Put time, effort, and money into developing the right toolset” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The Hexaco score is one of the most cutting-edge psychological profiling tool to understand people
  • Hexaco stands for:
    • Honesty/humility
    • Emotionality
    • X- Extroversion
    • Agreeableness
    • Conscientiousness
    • Openness to new experiences
  • Understand Hexaco to know how to pick friends, business partners, investors, and everyone who will be a part of your life
  • If you’re not as well equipped, you’ll always lose, even if you’re a better fighter
  • When you don’t have enough equipment, you work hard, but don’t get the reward
  • Put time, effort, and money into developing the right toolset
  • Be a sponge: Learn from and soak up everything around you, just make sure it’s the right things to learn
  • Think about your life as a “progress pyramid.” Work from a strong foundation at the bottom
  • Having a negative net-worth is a dangerous place to be in
  • If you make below $80k per year, it’s very easy to be in a place of financial insecurity
  • Most people don’t have the focus to accomplish great things

When raising money, it’s extremely important to be getting in front of the right investors. Just because an investor has a lot of money and is looking for an investment does not mean that they are a good fit for you. You have to match up the right investors for your idea.

This is the part that too many people don’t think about. You have to look for investors who have had previous “wins” in your category. These are the people who will be most excited by your idea, and see the value in it.

Learn how to find the ideal investors and business partners for your idea or venture on today’s episode!

“You know you’ve hit on something big when you starting getting parodied” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • You have to find the right racehorse, that matches the right race course
  • In order to raise money, you have to be able to match up with investors who have real interest, and preferably past success, in your category
  • Find people who have already won through investing in your industry to increase your chances of raising money
  • It’s not the strongest or fastest who survive, it’s the most adaptable
  • The more you’re sold to, the more you ignore selling. This is the case with investors as well, which is why it takes so much effort to stand out to investors
  • You know you’ve hit on something big when you starting getting parodied
  • You must show overwhelming experience to investors in order to stand out

“We are all deluded into thinking that we are the center of the universe, but it’s not true” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Almost everyone in the world makes the ego-centric, which is the error of thinking, often subconsciously, that the world is all about you. That you are, in essence, the “center of the universe.” Whether people think this consciously or not, it manifests itself in the way they behave.

The mistake that this causes in sales and raising money from investors, is that you spend time making assumptions that the potential investor or customer is interested in the same things you are, instead of gathering data about what the other person is really interested in, and what is most important to them.

Learn how to see the world through the wants and desires of those around you, to be able to exert more influence, sell better, and far more effectively raise money, on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show!

“Constantly be gathering data about the world and the people around you” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • We are all deluded into thinking that we are the center of the universe. It’s simply how our minds tend to function
  • When trying to sell or raise money, forget about what you want, and think only about what the person across from you wants
  • Gather as much data about the person you’re pitching as possible
  • Constantly be gathering data about the world and the people around you

“A lack of the skills of “business-savvy” is the most common constraint to business growth and success” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Entrepreneurs and business-owners tend to have a misinformed and wrong idea of what exactly is holding them back in business. The most common thought process if that if they had morning money, they could make the business work.

But the truth is that most people are far more business-savvy constrained than money-constrained. The high-earners in the world put large amounts of time and effort into learning through reading, listening to smart people, going to conferences, and other activities.

The world is far more competitive than most people realize when it comes to having the knowledge and skill-sets for making money. Warren Buffett reads 250-1,000 pages every day, and there are many high-earners just like him to who are consuming that much information, to help them grow businesses and create revenue. This is your competition, so focus on building skill-sets!

But, in case you are at the point where you truly do require money for business-growth, this episode will teach you how to raise it from investors.

“People tend to be far more culture-savvy than business-savvy” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • In today's society, it does take a certain amount of money to make money
  • A lot of people think that they’re capital constrained, when there is really something else holding them back
  • A lack of the skills of “business-savvy” is the most common constraint to business growth and success
  • Most people think they have business-savvy, but few people do
  • People tend to be far more culture-savvy than business-savvy, which is much less practical

“Evolution has created a mind that is not well-adapted to the modern world. It has to be trained” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Understanding how to read somebody is one of the most important skills you can develop. While it’s almost never taught in the classroom, the ability to discern aspects of someone else’s character rightfully, asses them and understand enough about them to know if what they will bring to your life will be negative or positive, is one of the most important skills in the world.

On today’s episode, I am discussing specific negative character traits, how to spot them, and why they should be avoided at all costs.

“Be careful not to date or partner with anyone who exhibits high levels of emotional instability” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Evolution has created a mind that is not well-adapted to the modern world. It has to be trained
  • Be careful not to date or partner with anyone who exhibits high levels of emotional instability
  • You never know who you’re dating until there’s stress
  • Avoid people with low levels of agreeableness
  • Narcissistic people use charm to get their way initially, but then you soon find out that they only care about themselves
  • To understand neuroticism, ask yourself if someone is: Fearful, weird, or dramatic
  • Learning how to read people is one of the most important skills to develop
  • Spending a lot of time around people you like will lead to the greatest amount of happiness in your life

“Create micro-goals, that each get you slightly closer to your goal” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Do you know how to effectively make decisions? A lot of people find themselves paralyzed by the decision making process, when in reality there is a simple tool to help you always make the right decision: Consider the downside.

In every decision you make, look at what the downside of both options is. After looking at both, you usually will realize that one is far worse than the other, and your decision is instantly made.

In addition, the ability to focus is as valuable as ever, but in far less supply than ever. Being able to focus, to keep away from you phone for chunks at a time, and to focus like a laser on a problem will separate you from the crowd and bring success.

“Focus can solve a lot of your problems. You can solve almost anything if you focus” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Most people know what they should do. The difficult thing is simply doing it
  • People struggle with procrastination because they do not have the force of will to do what they need to do
  • In the “soft” life we live in the modern age, most people don’t experience very many life/death moments. But each moment in your life is life/death, as you choose what kind of life you will have
  • Create micro-goals, that each get you slightly closer to your goal
  • Focus can solve a lot of your problems. You can solve almost anything if you focus

“Don’t waste your time not believing in yourself and your abilities” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Most people don’t realize how valuable their haters are to them. There is a progression that is very common among the successful. Initially, haters don’t even know who you are. They ignore you. Then, they laugh at and ridicule you. After that, as you become more and more successful, they hate you because it reflects poorly on their own life. And then, gradually and over time, they come to love you.

So understand that you could be in any one of those stages. But it is a process that you are working through. Each stage leads naturally to the next, and the process has been proven over and over again with almost all success stories.

So don’t hate your haters. Love them, appreciate their free PR, and understand which stage you are in.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh, then they hate you, then they love you” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Don’t waste your time not believing in yourself and your abilities
  • Being a hater is such a waste of time, energy, and life
  • Haters are free PR for you
  • First they ignore you, then they laugh, then they hate you, then they love you
  • You must look out for yourself, because no one else will
  • People look out for others according to how much DNA they share
  • Always blame yourself if something goes wrong

“Everyone progresses at their own speed. Don’t be in too much of a hurry” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today’s episode is a small Q&A I did recently in Norway, while shooting hoops. I’m talking about how to very quickly judge whether or not a business is a good idea, why freemium is one of the best business models available today, and how to find the right category for you to thrive in.

If you’ve ever wondered how you can know what your focus should be, what your business, or passion, or goal should be, this episode deals with how to define that quickly, and it’s through a process I’ve been talking a lot about lately: Experimentation.

But it is a two-step approach to experimentation: Experiment initially to try to find your niche, the thing that you enjoy and are good at, and then experiment constantly once you have defined that, within that space, to optimize your results.

“Freemium is one of the best business models: give things away for free, and then charge for just a few things” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Judge business ideas by whether they can make a small amount of progress, and money, very quickly
  • Businesses should win and be a good experiment very quickly early on, and then it might take years to build
  • Experiment constantly to find the initial thing you want to work in, and then experiment within that category
  • Freemium is one of the best business models: give things away for free, and then charge for just a few things
  • Everyone progresses at their own speed. Don’t be in too much of a hurry

“Take care of your family, love the people who love you, and destroy your enemies” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Running experiments separates the pros from the amateurs in the marketing world. Those who run the most experiments simply win the most. In fact, in my experience, I have to run about 18 experiments for each winner that I pick out and use again.

You will find this to be the fact over and over again in life. The people who refuse to be open minded to other things, to different ideas and ways of doing things, remain stuck in their old ways and don’t innovate, don’t create, and ultimately don’t see the success that they are looking for.

But there are specific concepts and methods to keep in mind when it comes to running experiments, and that is what I am talking about in this episode: How to run experiments, learn from them, and adapt, why authenticity is so important to marketing, how true happiness comes from memories, and why services are such a good first business for entrepreneurs.

“Authenticity in marketing is powerful” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Look for ways to release dopamine in people’s brains through your social media
  • The exact time you post is not nearly as important as what you are posting
  • Take care of your family, love the people who love you, and destroy your enemies
  • Authenticity in marketing is powerful
  • Run experiments, and don’t be afraid to try new things
  • Instead of being so sure of yourself, go try different things out
  • A huge amount of happiness comes from good memories, so invest in creating them
  • Lots of people put too much effort into their experiments. Instead, make them crappy, so you REALLY know if you have a winner
  • The smartest marketers become experiment machines
  • A lot of people tell you you need to make a lot of mistakes, but that’s only because they did. You can skip the mistakes if you can learn from others
  • Service businesses are great as first businesses to learn with. Products are more scalable
  • Be aggressive in life
  • Get a good CPA, instead of an accountant

“‘Trend catchers’ make even more money than ‘trendsetters’” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Do you know how to use the VRIN formula to make sure your message, your advertising, and your content has legs and will connect with people? That is what I teaching you on this episode. If you want your message to connect and resound, if you want it to be shareable and something people want to tell their friends about, and if you want to be able to SELL, you need to understand the VRIN formula, and how to apply it to your own work.

I’m also discussing the difference between “trend-catchers” and “trendsetters,” and why one will tend to make more money than the other, why controversy is valuable and you should push yourself out of your comfort zone to include more of it, and much more!

“Don’t be afraid of controversy” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • “Trend catchers” make even more money than “trendsetters”
  • “Edu-tainment” is going to win. The people who educate in more entertaining ways will be more effective
  • Use the formula VRIN:
    • Value
    • Rarity
    • Inimitable
    • Non-substitution
  • A lot of marketers and advertisers are being beaten by less-experienced people who understand better what people really want
  • Value means look for things that release dopamine
  • Make sure you’re doing something that’s rare and unusual in your marketing
  • Your innovation and strategy should be “costly to imitate”
  • Don’t be afraid of controversy
  • Think about one thing you could do this year that would push your boundaries

“Motivation is essential to success, but you need to LEARN how to motivate yourself” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Motivation is required for success. It’s as simple as that. But while most people understand this truth, few people take the time to learn how to motivate themselves effectively and well. People learn a few of the things that motivate them, like money, or relationships, or achievement, and they put all their energy into that one aspect.

But below I’m outlining the 17 different aspects of what motivates you, and how you can use them to achieve more.

In all of this, it’s importance to have balance. Too often people get all caught up in one or two of the below, and put 90% of their effort into those things. Instead, work on spreading these out evenly in your life, around 5% or so for each, to make sure your life is as fulfilling and happy as possible.

“The secret to being able to change is understanding why things are the way they are” - Tai Lopez

  • Motivation is essential to success, but you need to LEARN how to motivate yourself
  • Life is about doing and enjoying stuff
  • The secret to being able to change is understanding why things are the way they are

  • One of the most painful things in life is not being able to make sense of what happens

“The number one thing you should fear in life is wasting time” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Most people are too frugal with their money and aren’t nearly frugal enough with their time. But you can always get more money, you cannot ever get more time, and that makes it the most valuable asset in the world, and worth guarding extremely carefully!

This means the one thing you should truly fear in this world are time wasters. Whether they come in the form of people (friends, family, co-workers, etc), projects, habits, or anything else! It’s important to be ruthless in cutting out the time wasters in your life if you want to truly get ahead and achieve goals. Achievement takes time and focused energy, each of which you have less of the more time you waste.

Learn how to stop wasting time and achieve more on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show!

“Time-wasters are the enemy, and they come in many forms” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The more successful you become, the more valuable your time is
  • The number one thing you should fear in life is wasting time
  • Time is more valuable than money, because it’s the one thing you can’t get more of
  • Time-wasters are the enemy, and they come in many forms
  • The best and most reliable way to get rich is to find somebody who is already rich and make them happier
  • Small tweaks can lead to huge changes in income
  • Don’t waste people’s time

“Take quick trips to get our of your normal environment to increase your creativity” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Knowing when to give up and when to stick it out on a project is one of the most difficult things. While too many entrepreneurs and people in general are spending too much time working on a dead-end job, or a business model that is clearly not catching on, a lot of people also won’t stick things out long enough to actually find the success that they’re looking for.

In this episode I’m talking about a conversation I recently had with Steve Ballmer about how to know whether a project is worth sticking out for the long run, or whether you need to give it up and work on something else.

When “stickiness” (Steve Ballmer’s term) is required, it’s important that that stickiness and dedication to a clear vision is accompanied by a large amount of creativity. Because if you’re thinking about giving up on something, it probably means that exactly what you’re doing right now isn’t the best way to approach it. Get creative, and find a better way to move forward with it!

“A lot of people try to get too much too fast with people they consider mentors” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • When you get the opportunity to meet amazing people, make sure you don’t turn it into an interrogation
  • A lot of people try to get too much too fast with people they consider mentors
  • Take quick trips to get our of your normal environment to increase your creativity
  • Hard work isn’t the objective. Less work with more success is the goal
  • A lot of people don’t have enough “stickability” to a project that has real potential
  • One of the most difficult things is knowing whether to persevere and stick with a project or not
  • Look for signs of potential to know whether to kill a project and move on, or to stick with it
  • Listen to your intuition- you know a lot of things deep down
  • Take every opportunity to learn efficiently, from wherever you can
  • Be efficient in your learning and your life to have a good work/life balance
  • Catch trends, and be open-minded to new things

“If you’re product has to be perfect from the start, it’s not the right product” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

A lot of people are trying to force their customers to like their product. They think that they understand what is best for their consumers, and so they are in this constant uphill battle to make the product so perfect that consumers can’t help but buy it.

But this is a losing strategy. A product that is a good market fit doesn’t even need to be perfect for people to want to buy it. This is why it’s important to initially put very minimal effort into testing products, to see if they fit well. Then, once one of them really takes off, you know which product you should be focusing all of your energy on!

On today’s podcast, we talk about how to market and sell, how to date, why the internet is changing the age requirements for wealth, what you should focus on while you’re young, and how Caleb should go about launching his book club.

“Sell what people already like, don’t try to force them to like it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Launch new products with minimal effort to see if they take off, before putting a lot of effort into them
  • If you’re product has to be perfect from the start, it’s not the right product
  • Sell what people already like, don’t try to force them to like it
  • Focus on finding the perfect lead to know if the marketing will work
  • Understanding how to wrap your product up correctly to make it something people want is the most important part of marketing
  • Be constantly observant to get better at reading people
  • Ask people stuff. They want to tell you
  • With the anonymity of the internet, you can get rich when you’re young
  • When you’re young, focus on trying to figure out how to make a money machine that steadily increases your wealth instead of getting rich fast

“The person who experiments the most wins” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Materialism motivates. It’s that simple. While everyone is different, and so the extent to which it will motivate you varies, it’s an important principle to keep in mind. Because many people feel guilty about their love of materialistic things. But use it as a tool! If cars motivate you, keep them around! If a nice house motivates you, keep that on your mind. Understand yourself, and your own intrinsic motivations, and then use those any time that you feel like you need an extra push of motivation.

This is the second part of my conversation with 14 year-old Caleb Maddix, and we’re talking about why good parenting is one of the best ways to make the world a better place, why most people are working far too hard and training far too little, why critical thinking is an essential skill, why the person who experiments the most wins, and much, much more!

“Materialism motivates, so use it for motivation!” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • You’re born with some talent. But when it comes to business, a lot of it is dependent on how much you train and practice, less innate talent
  • Parenting is one of the most effective ways to make the world a better place
  • Most people understand that learning is essential, but they don’t realize that humans learn faster under other people
  • Original ideas are very rare. Almost everything is recycled
  • Every time you meet haters, be thankful for them, they make it easier for you to succeed
  • Hard work is not especially correlated with success. Hard training is
  • Hours only count if they’re in a good training program
  • Critical thinking is an essential skill
  • Materialism motivates, so use it for motivation!
  • The person who experiments the most wins

“Positivity is essential to good parenting”

(click to tweet)

Caleb Maddix stopped by the house to talk about success. He’s 14 years old, has already made $100,000, and on today’s episode he’s talking about the key concepts and ideas that brought him success at such an early age.

We’re talking about how to motivate kids to succeed, why people need to stop planning to do things “someday” and instead do them now, how to develop a hunger to learn, why curiosity is key, and why completion is the most essential part of anything you do!

“Develop a hunger to learn”

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Motivate and incentivize your kids to succeed and continually improve themselves
  • Kids shouldn’t be paid for chores, because adults aren’t. They should do that as part of the family
  • Positivity is essential to good parenting
  • Put emphasis on reading the right books in parenting
  • Stop saying you’re going to do something some day. Do it now, take action
  • Focus on a specific dollar number you want to make
  • Develop a hunger to learn
  • You can learn a lot by studying history
  • The fastest way to learn is to click every button. Curiosity is how you become smart
  • People tend to not be curious enough about the things they see and interact with everyday
  • Completion is one of the most important parts of any task, and the part too many people skip
  • Succeeding in life requires a diverse skill set, not just focus on one thing
  • Focus on practice: Reps and sets, continual repetition and practice

“Work less, and READ MORE!” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Understanding and getting good at reading people is one of the most essential skills you work on. It gives you instant insight into whether or not you should trust someone, what you can expect from them in terms of their character, their level of responsibility, and their tendency to come through for you on promises. Developing this skill is essential toward taking dramatic steps towards living the good life.

Today I am talking about reading people, why it’s important, what the “Dark Triad” is, why there are downsides to wealth and fame, how to know immediately if a new employee is going to suck, why bullying has such an affect on people, and why you should work less and READ MORE!

“Knowing how to read people will help you get ahead like nothing else” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • There are downsides to the things people often desire, including wealth and fame
  • Practice and learn how to read people. It’s one of the most essential things to get good at
  • Knowing how to read people will help you get ahead like nothing else
  • Reading people translates into marketing skills
  • Let new employees have the opportunity to fail early, to show you if they will perform well or not long term
  • Be very careful about people who have been bullied. It tends to turn people machiavellian
  • Social esteem is built by age 16, so those early years are extremely important for development

“You will almost never build wealth through passive investment and income” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Passive income, and the power of it, is one of the most pervasive myths in modern culture. Many people think that passive income is what is going to eventually bring them real wealth. But look at the Forbes list! None of those people created wealth exclusively through passive investment and income. Those who make the most and become the most wealthy are those who are willing to be active in their investment, and to put in the time and effort required to build the kind of wealth they are looking for.

On this episode I’m talking about the confusion and misinformation around passive income, how strong a motivator status is, why traditional schooling is holding so many people back, why you should set up multiple bases around the world for your business, and why life is a set of battles you should be willing to lose in order to win the war of having the ultimate good life.

“Focus on winning the war of living the good life. Battles are insignificant. Withdraw if you need to” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Status is a strong motivator, and social media is playing a larger and larger role in status in the modern age
  • The earned respect of peers is powerful
  • If entrepreneurship and business could be integrate in traditional education, it would prepare people far better for the world
  • Traditional schooling can really hold people back
  • Consider setting up bases around the world for your business if you are at that level
  • Couch surfing and visiting short-term is often not as enjoyable a way to go to places
  • You will almost never build wealth through passive investment and income
  • Focus on winning the war of living the good life. Battles are insignificant. Withdraw if you need to
  • If you’re testing products, you need to be willing to give up very quickly if it doesn’t convert as well as you would like it to
  • You want to get to the point with your business where you only need to put 3-4 hours a day into it

“If you can master rewards and motivation, you will make a ton of money” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

If you want to be successful in life, whether that means making more money, doing more good, achieving more, or anything else, you will need to master the skill of persuasion. Today, I’m talking about why reward is the strongest persuasion technique, and how to use it.

In addition, we go over how you should play the “versus” game to find out what truly motivates you. Compare two common motivations, such as fame and money, and ask which you would rather do without in order to have the other. Once you’ve honed in on what truly motivates you at the highest level, make sure you have a lot of that thing around you, to keep you in a state of constant motivation.

“Find out what motivates you, and then fixate on it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • There is almost no persuasion technique stronger than reward
  • If you can master rewards and motivation, you will make a ton of money
  • Testimonials are extremely persuasive, and a powerful tool in selling
  • Get testimonials that tell the whole story in detail
  • Play the “versus” game to find out what motivates you

“What you’re selling matters far more than all the best practices, tips, and hacks about how to sell” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

We’ve been over why there is not a correlation between working hard and having more money. The idea is disproven time and time again, even though it continues to be put forward is a reputable concept.

I would even put forward that, unless you’re in a flow state where time seems to slow down (and fly by at the same time) and it basically doesn’t even feel like work, even 8 hours a day is too much! If you’re consistently working 8 hours a day in a non-flow state, you need to look into how you can decrease your input (hours worked) while keeping your output (money in) the same or increasing it.

We’re going over all of that, as well as the skill of hiring the right people, why it’s a fool’s errand to try to predict outcomes, and why Dan Bilzerian might just be smarter than Coca Cola...

“Hiring is a talent and skill that take time to develop and practice” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Work much smarter than you work hard
  • You need turnover in your business. If you don’t have that, it means something is wrong, people aren’t being let go who should be
  • Hiring is a talent and skill that take time to develop and practice
  • If you have to train your employees too much, your input is too much. Try training less and see who makes it
  • The only time you should work more than 8 hours a day is when you’re in flow
  • In social media, simply post and compare results constantly
  • It’s a fool’s game to try to predict outcomes. You almost never can!
  • What you’re selling matters far more than all the best practices, tips, and hacks about how to sell

“You MUST know what motivates you. This is the most important” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Almost everybody would like to be making more money, if they’re completely honest with themselves. But there are so many mindset problems that people have around money, how it’s made, and how you can get more of it.

Most importantly, you MUST know what motivates you, and be very clear about it. If you’re motivated by fast cars, great, use that! If you’re motivating by doing good, great, us that! With the correct motivation, you could do a lot more than you are doing, so the reality is that motivation is often a major missing piece of the puzzle.

In addition, don’t make the common mistake of equating hard work with money. The hardest workers in the world are not the richest. There’s simply not a correlation. Learn how to use tools effectively, be smart, and be willing to put in the hard work. But look at the hard work as just one aspect. The input (hard work) should be minimized and the output maximized.

Learn how to upgrade your mindset around money to make more of it on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show!

“Retrain your mind to see hard things as how hard they ACTUALLY are, and not more” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • You MUST know what motivates you. This is the most important
  • Think of yourself as an investor, and study investing
  • You can always find reasons why you don’t think you can make money, but there are also always examples of people in your circumstances that are making money
  • The people who make the most money are simple about their motivation
  • You will get paid according to the difficulty of the problems you solve
  • Train yourself to keep things absolute, to keep from turning something small into a big problem
  • Retrain your mind to see hard things as how hard they ACTUALLY are, and not more
  • Working hard does not correlate with wealth
  • The goal is not to maximize input, but rather to maximize output
  • Better tools beat harder work every time
  • If you are feeling burnt out, it’s a sign that you’re doing it wrong

“As a marketer, think in terms of experimentation, learning, and then tweaking” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

A lot of people want to be an influencer, but not very many people know how to do it well. In fact, not very many people or brands know how to leverage and build social media effectively. If you look at top brands in industries, for instance people like Tony Robbins or brands like Coca Cola, their social media platforms have far too few followers and far too poor engagement for how wide and broad their reach is. Yet, having strong social media is so important that it could be argued that it won the presidency in the last election!

The problem is that most people are not actively creating experiments, measuring, analyzing, and then tweaking their strategy to be as effective as possible. They think they already know what to do, but most people don’t. This episode is about how to set up effective experiments to grow your social media and influence.

“Brands tend to be way behind in advertising, and they’re wasting a lot of money” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Building apps are a huge business opportunity, even if you can’t build them yourself
  • Brands tend to be way behind in advertising, and they’re wasting a lot of money
  • Use your brainpower to build good experiments and learn from them
  • As a marketer, think in terms of experimentation, learning, and then tweaking
  • In social media, keep it entertaining

A lot of people want to know how to become an influencer. It’s a sexy thing to do these days, with the bragging rights and fame that come with large numbers of social media followers and influence. But how do you build yourself into an influencer?

This episode is about how to use social media to growing your following and turn yourself into an influencer. I’m talking about which platforms are ideal for what types of influence and demographics, how to approach different platforms, and how to win on any of them.

“A lot of people simply won’t take the steps and do the work” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The influencer field is getting crowded, and much more difficult to stand out in
  • Focus in on a niche to differentiate yourself
  • Pick something that is authentic to you to hone in on
  • Don’t be afraid to have a small following, because smaller niche followings can be very active and powerful
  • You’re socials don’t need to be all about your business
  • A lot of people simply won’t take the steps and do the work to see success
  • Be very responsive to what the customer is telling you
  • Research other people’s social media to see what’s working for them and learn from it
  • Over time, you can broaden your niche

“It’s not the smartest, but the most adaptable, who survive” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Too many people are copying the wrong people. They don’t realize that you can almost never achieve 100% of the what the people you are emulating have done, so you need to overshoot by a lot, so that when you don’t achieve as much as they did, you still end up pretty well off.

This episode is about some of the best business models to emulate. Who you copy is extremely important, and I’m breaking down the different business models out there, the good and the bad, and whether you should be copying them or not.

“Go straight to the top: Learn from the very best” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • It’s not the smartest, but the most adaptable, who survive
  • Spreading out and building multiple sources of income is the most powerful method of wealth creation
  • Go straight to the top: Learn from the very best
  • Seek out mentors who are so incredible that if you achieve just 1% of what they did, you will be happy with the result

“If you don’t know how to use tools, it’s almost impossible to keep up with the competition” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

A lot of entrepreneurs have it backwards. They think that hustle is the goal, that hard work is something to brag about and even to strive for. The truth is that hustle and hard work constitute the input, while the goal of any business is to maximize output while simultaneously minimizing input.

This is the confusion that is so pervasive to the entrepreneurial community, and it is holding people back. The hardest working people in the world are, unfortunately, often also the poorest, so there is no correlation. While it is important during times and seasons to work very hard, this should never be the main goal.

“Humans got ahead mainly because of their ability to use tools, not because they worked harder” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • If you don’t know how to use tools, it’s almost impossible to keep up with the competition
  • Sadly, the hardest workers in the world often make the least money
  • Humans got ahead mainly because of their ability to use tools, not because they worked harder
  • Hard work is important sometimes, but it will not make up for ignoring and not learning how to use tools well
  • The goal is to not have to work hard
  • Hard work is a cost, not a benefit
  • The goal is to maximize output with as little input as possible

“Most businesses suck, because businesses are created by people, and too many people are dumb” - Tai Lopez

That’s quite a claim, right? But it’s true, most businesses suck. And it’s because businesses are created by people, and most people are dumb.

So look for your competitive advantage, and what you can bring to the world that’s truly unique. There was a time when having a college degree was a competitive advantage, but no more. However, if you know how to sell and bring value, you will always be in high demand.

“If you know how to sell, you will always be in demand” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Most businesses suck, because businesses are created by people, and too many people are dumb
  • You can always make money by showing people what is new and effective
  • College used to be a competitive advantage, because less people went. No longer the case
  • If you know how to sell, you will always be in demand

“When you try to jump ahead too fast in life, you often fall on your face” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

People talk a big game. I’ve heard people talk about their “billion dollar idea,” but when asked if they’ve ever made $100 million, $1 million, $100,000, or even $10,00, the answer is no.

Success comes in steps, gradually and over time. And believe it or not, this is actually a really good thing. While there are examples of people who have become extremely successful nearly instantly, the large majority of them fell flat on their face immediately thereafter. When steps are skipped, smaller mistakes are skipped, which means you miss the opportunity to learn from small mistakes, and instead make big mistakes.

This is the value of taking the long-view in life. Try to become successful too fast, and you’re likely to fall flat on your face. Instead, strive to live each day better, to be more successful, to do better, slowly but gradually, and you’ll be surprised how far you get! Enjoy the journey!

“Think about success as 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, home run in that order” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • When you try to jump ahead too fast in life, you often fall on your face
  • When you get too much money too fast, you often haven’t made enough mistakes along the way, and you’ll probably make a big mistake and lose a lot
  • Think about success as 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, home run
  • You don’t need a home run, you just need continual improvement
  • You have to earn the right to do big things
  • “Make haste slowly” - Joel Salatin
  • Don’t go backwards, but don’t go forwards too fast
  • Consider the power of compounding interest: Over time, small amounts really add up. Be patient and apply that same logic to the rest of your life

“The real basis of America is free-thought, not free press. So be a free thinker!” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

If you know your history, you know that society, and the status quo, is almost never right. Whether it was the belief that the world was flat, slavery, or any other number of examples, if you have a tendency to simply accept the status quo and what society dictates, you’re setting yourself up to be horribly wrong.

Today’s rant is about this idea. The concept that you should fight the power. Or at least, fight to think outside the status quo of the power. Because, as it turns out, the power is almost always wrong! Be a free thinker! America was built upon the basis of free thought, not free press, so exercise the muscles of thought that will allow you to see beyond the society’s status quo and into reality.

“Anyone who doesn’t question the status quo is in severe danger of being very wrong. It’s proven throughout history” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Almost everybody cares about money more than they would want you to know
  • Become a free thinker, and think for yourself
  • The real basis of America is free-thought, not free press. So be a free thinker!
  • Conventional thinking will get you conventional results
  • Anyone who doesn’t question the status quo is in severe danger of being very wrong. It’s proven throughout history
  • Fight the system, and stand up for what you believe in and what you believe is right
  • Society is almost never right

“When you’re in the valleys of life, never isolate yourself. Surround yourself with friends” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Almost every major figure throughout history has encountered some sort of tremendous failure. A moment in their life when they made an absolutely huge mistake, were forced to deal with the consequences, and then, to make the decision that would shape the rest of their lives: Would they let the failure defeat them for good, or would they pick themselves up, and start again?

Their answer to that question often defined whether they would become somebody who would be remembered or forgotten by history, and it will define the impact and success that you are able to achieve in your life.

Everybody fails. The way you respond to failure, however, sets you apart from the crowd. Learn how to respond, how to pick yourself up, and how to have the strength and willpower to try again, to climb out of the valleys of life, and to become something great, on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show.

“Almost every major historical figure has had a moment of tremendous failure, where they faced the decision of whether to persevere and keep going or give up” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Almost every major historical figure has had a moment of tremendous failure, where they faced the decision of whether to persevere and keep going or give up
  • History is full of people who have lost a ton of money and recovered
  • Maintain a level of activity, excitement, and optimism that you know you can keep up for the long run
  • Happiness has more to do with relativity to where you were before, not absolute values
  • When you’re in the valleys of life, never isolate yourself. Surround yourself with friends
  • The human brain is wired in social terms, so the minute you isolate yourself, you’re in danger
  • You should be able to come up with about 150 friends, family and acquaintances, who would attend your funeral

“Your personality type will determine what your ideal routine will be” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

One of the questions that I get asked the most is what my ideal morning routine looks like, so today I am digging into that topic.

Morning routines and daily routines, while very important, are also very personal, and exactly what they are is going to depend on what personality type you are. Because of my own personality, one type of routine works best for me, but remember that it will be different for everyone.

So listen to this episode of The Tai Lopez Show to find out more about what will go into your ideal routine based on your personality type.

“The ability to stick to something in the long run is one of the most powerful abilities to have” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Daily routines are a misunderstood concept: There is no one perfect morning routine
  • Your personality type will determine what your ideal routine will be
  • The success of your morning routine will also depend on your adherence to it
  • Look for the broad strokes of what needs to be involved in the routine, and then varying ways you can change it up within those broad strokes
  • Be very honest with yourself about what you know you will adhere to over the long run
  • The ability to stick to something in the long run is one of the most powerful abilities to have

“Winning is one of the best ways to shut up haters” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

A lot of people are taught that meekness is essential. We’re told from an early age that humility is a virtue, and, in many different ways, we’re told to avoid confrontation.

But what about the times when confrontation is necessary? When you need to stand up for yourself, or for others? Do you know how to? And, perhaps even more importantly, do you know when to?

Today’s conversation is about how to stand up to bullies, how to know when aggression is necessary, why some people are too aggressive while others are too non-confrontational and how to deal with both, and much, much more.

“You can’t always be non-confrontational. Confrontation will make you stronger” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Learn how to use words effectively to be persuasive and win arguments
  • How you respond to pressure will often define your success
  • You can’t always be non-confrontational. Confrontation will make you stronger
  • Conflict is an important aspect of the human experience
  • When there is no father in the picture, people often grow up and don’t understand how to deal with conflict
  • Find somebody you can teach you the right amount of aggression to use in different situations
  • Winning is one of the best ways to shut up haters

If you’ve ever felt held-back in your pursuit of success by your upbringing, the people around you, or where you came from, this episode is for you. I’m speaking with Caron Butler, pro NBA player, about his new book “Tuff Juice.” We’re talking about his journey to success in the NBA, what it took for him to achieve the incredible amounts of success that he has, and the advice that he has for anyone who wants to do amazing things.

While we’re at it, we get into playing against Michael Jordan, the importance of the group of people you surround yourself, and why it’s so essential to remember those who believe in you when no one else will.

“Think about the people who believe in you when no one else will. They keep you going”

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Use stories of inspiring people who rose to great heights to inspire you everyday

“People subconsciously act out stories in their mind about how they think the world works, and it controls their behavior”

(click to tweet)

Today’s episode is about the book “Love is a Story” by Robert J. Sternberg, which explores the way that the stories we mentally tell about ourselves and how love works controls the way we behave. This means that one of the most important things to look for in a potential partner is either the same, or a similar love story, so that your attitude and mindset will line up with each other.

So if it seems like no matter how hard you try, you cannot find the right person, it could be your stories aren’t lining up, or are simply too different. It’s a fascinating way to look at relationships and finding the perfect fit in a partner.

“Never date somebody who has a dramatically different subconscious story compared with yours”

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The love triangle: Intimacy, passion, and commitment
  • People subconsciously act out stories in their mind about how they think the world works, and it controls their behavior
  • Never date somebody who has a dramatically different subconscious story compared with yours
  • While it is possible to change your story over time, it is often a better idea to just look for someone who has the same or similar story to begin with

“Work smarter than you work hard” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

A lot of the discussion in entrepreneurial circles these days is about “the hustle.” The word “hustle” is a popular buzzword right now, but the truth is that it’s really only half, or probably much less than half, of what will make you successful!

Look around you: You can find people hustling, working extremely hard, but not getting ahead, everywhere. Hustle is clearly not the answer, and so much emphasis is put on it that people get led astray, thinking it’s all that they need. But if you’re hustling, doing the wrong thing, it doesn’t matter how hard you’re hustling, it’s still the wrong thing!

This episode is about how to work smarter, not harder. While hustle and hard-work is a necessity, it’s not the end goal. In fact, your hard work should be with the goal of putting systems in place that allow you to work less hard to accomplish the same thing. Work smarter, use mentors, books, and online education to make your hard work as smart as it can be, and you will get ahead over time.

“What gets you ahead is intelligence, leading to leverage” -Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The world is full of people who work extremely hard, but are not succeeding, so it takes more than hard work.
  • Today, people need education more than hustle
  • Work smarter than you work hard
  • What gets you ahead is intelligence, leading to leverage
  • Work to figure out how you can not work as hard
  • The grind is a necessity, but not the goal
  • Look around you: Does hard work equal success?
  • Figure out your competitive advantage, and what’s going to get you ahead
  • Learn from other people. Their mistakes can keep you from making the same mistakes

“Most people are mentally lazy without realizing it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

When you’re building a business, or as an entrepreneur just starting out in business, it’s easy to think that the employees you hire will have the same sort of passion, ingenuity, and drive for success that you do, but this is a mistake. Instead, start with the simple understanding and assumption that most people will be lazy, more mentally than physically. This means that you should start assuming that they will do the job wrong. This is not negativity, it’s realism.

Secondly, build a training system that ensures that, from day one, they have all of the education that they need at their fingertips. Then, systematically and regularly quiz them, to make sure that they fully, 100% know what they are doing. This is one of the most important aspects of building a company, and I wish someone had told me to do it a long time ago.

Entrepreneurs and business-owners, listen to this episode carefully and take notes! If you take it seriously and implement it, it will save you time and a lot of pain on your journey to success in business.

“Build a training system that really gets your employees ready for success” -Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Parkinson's Law states that work will expand to fill the space that it is given
  • An increase in productivity in each individual in America or any country would single-handedly fix its economy
  • Most people are mentally lazy without realizing it
  • Mental laziness is the most common kind: People just choose not to think very hard
  • Assume that people will be mentally lazy, and that employees will leach off you
  • Always assume that people will do the job wrong. This is not negativity, it’s realism
  • Build a training system that really gets your employees ready for success
  • Quiz employees continually
  • Always trust, but verify
  • People lie, but numbers never do, so trust but verify
  • Put tremendous effort into making your employees best in class at what they do
  • When you start to hold people accountable, you will immediately see the difference in their work

“Good eating lifestyle is not a diet, because it’s not limiting. It’s a lifestyle” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

The Gracie Diet is an eating lifestyle, developed by the Gracie family of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fame, and designed to combine the correct foods with each other, to give you energy and health to accomplish what you want in life.

But even more fundamentally, in this episode I talk about why it is important to be willing to experiment. Those who have done incredible things have always been willing to experiment, to try things out and see if they work, and whether that’s diet, lifestyle, habits, or anything else, everyone is different, and so experimentation is often the only way you can know if something is right for you specifically.

“When starting a new lifestyle, take it slowly and in stages” -Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • The fuel you put in your body is going to affect your performance in a powerful way
  • Most people don’t pay nearly enough attention to how certain foods make them feel
  • Many people are guided almost entirely by the pleasure of eating
  • Good eating lifestyle is not a diet, because it’s not limiting. It’s a lifestyle
  • Most people lack potassium in their diet
  • Eat fruit for dessert
  • A 24 fast once per month is a great cleanse
  • If you write down everything that you eat, you will realize that you’re not eating the way you want
  • When starting a new lifestyle, take it slowly and in stages
  • Make sure you hang out with people who eat similarly to the way you want to eat, because it will affect you greatly
  • Be constantly willing to try out different things, to find out what works for you
  • Willingness to experiment is extremely important to success
  • Take naps

“Take shortcuts anytime you can, and shortcuts often mean learning from others” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

A lot of people have negative connotations around money. We hear that money is the root of all evil. And yet, money is absolutely required in order to do good in the world, to not be a burden to others, and to live a fulfilled and happy life in the modern age. Get rid of any preconceived notions you may have about any inherent evil in money. If you want to do good in the world, get rich.

In addition, today I talk about how you can use mentors as shortcuts in life, why family advice is often bad, what it means to be penny-wise and dollar-foolish, and how fear can be a powerful motivator to drive you to success.

“Use fear as a motivator to succeed” -Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Quality over quantity, in everything you do
  • Family will often have perverse incentives for their advice, built around their regrets, what they wish they had done, etc
  • Take shortcuts anytime you can, and shortcuts often mean learning from others
  • Many people are penny-wise and dollar-foolish, which means they’ll pay for small things that don’t help, but not things that will move the needle in their life
  • Seek out mentors, which are one of the most powerful shortcuts in life
  • Mentors can take the form of people, books, podcasts, or online courses
  • Use fear as a motivator to succeed
  • Use money to create experiences, because experiences will improve your quality of life
  • Money is 100% necessary to having a good life. It might not be everything, but it is necessary
  • Money is also necessary to do great good in the world

“When it comes to marketing, always be critical of yourself and ask if you would actually click/buy it” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Today I’m going through my top mentor tips for how to get more out of life through business, health, and relationships. Everyone wants a different mix of all three, and I’m giving you the strategies and ways of behaving that will get you ahead in any one of these.

If you’re an entrepreneur, don’t discount the value of your social life. Make sure you’re hanging out with people, getting to know them, and developing deeper and better relationships all the time. But also take good care of your personal financial situation. Those who don’t make finances a priority become a burden to other people, so it’s actually selfish not to look out for your own financial well-being.

Learn how to get an edge in finance, health, and relationships on this episode of The Tai Lopez Show.

“Life is all about reacting to stress, and if you can be cool under pressure, you will do well” -Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Social life is extremely important to your happiness. It’s more essential to most people’s happiness than wealth
  • It takes about 10 years to build a true, deep friendship
  • Go back to your school or old friends, and make friends with them again, so that you don’t have to start over
  • When it comes to marketing, always be critical of yourself and ask if you would actually click/buy it
  • Most people talk too much when they’re around mentors
  • With mentors, talk ⅓ as much as you listen
  • Most people are bad investors because they listen to the media, but if the media knows, it’s probably already too late
  • Life is all about reacting to stress, and if you can be cool under pressure, you will do well
  • The first person you should hire is a personal assistant, because it magnifies you, which is the most important part of your business
  • The second person should be either a bookkeeper/accountant, or a sales person
  • Time your sleep in 90 minute cycles. You need about 35 90-minute sleep cycles per week
  • Never sleep with your phone next to your bed
  • Look at people’s actions more than their words
  • Get life insurance as early as you can while you’re healthy. Get 10X your annual income

“Be nice to people, but don’t be a pushover” - Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Sometimes, you just need to stand up for yourself. But we’re all raised in such a way that we tend to think that it’s always wrong to stand up for ourselves, to push back, or to be confrontational in any way. The truth is that, throughout history and today, being non-confrontational has been the cause of a lot of extra suffering. So stand up for yourself to avoid additional frustration and suffering in your own life!

A good rule to keep in mind is, in every interaction with anyone, start out nice, and then reciprocate whatever they give you. So if they continue to be friendly and nice, that should be your response. But if they get aggressive, you just might have to as well.

Learn more about how to confront someone, how to stand up to bullies, and why you shouldn’t be a pushover, on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show.

“Always start nice with people, and then reciprocate whatever they give you” -Tai Lopez

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Sometimes, when you help people out and they start to do well, they’re going to start to pretend they did it all by themselves
  • Always start nice with people, and then reciprocate whatever they give you
  • If you ignore being taken advantage of, people will continue to take advantage of you. It’s better to be straightforward and give them what they gave you
  • Appeal to people’s sense of justice to be more persuasive
  • Going high when other people go low does not always work
  • Be nice, but don’t be a pushover
  • Don’t get in other people’s business to break up fights, unless it’s an egregious case of bullying
  • People are always quick to forgive themselves, but will nitpick everything about you
  • Over and over throughout history, people had to stand up for themselves, and sometimes you have to today as well
